Where We Can Help

Our areas of expertise

Zerodynamix works across the full design and analysis chain — from first-principles CFD and physical modelling to surrogate-based optimisation and solver development. Below is an overview of the work we take on.

CFD Analysis

We run high-fidelity simulations to answer specific engineering questions about a flow — forces, losses, heat loads, separation, and where a design is failing. We handle the full pipeline: geometry, meshing, solver setup, and interpretation of results.

  • Internal and external aerodynamics, from subsonic to hypersonic
  • Discrete and multi-phase flows
  • Combustion and heat transfer modeling
  • Mesh-quality and solver-setup audits of your existing cases

Mathematical Modelling

Some problems aren't solved by a finer mesh — they're solved by a better model. We develop the physics-based sub-models that simulations rely on, derive them from first principles, and analyse where they break.

  • Transition and turbulence closure models for RANS solvers
  • First-principles derivation of physical sub-models for new problems
  • Stability and dynamical-systems analysis of model behaviour
  • Diagnosis of why a model diverges, stalls, or mispredicts
  • Validation against canonical and experimental cases

Reduced-Order Analysis

Full CFD is too slow to run on every candidate design. We build cheaper models that keep the physics that matters, so you can explore hundreds of configurations and optimise instead of guessing.

  • Reduced-order models for high-speed intake and diffuser flows
  • Kriging and response-surface surrogates built from CFD data
  • Design-of-experiments and design-space exploration
  • Multi-objective optimisation across competing requirements
  • Surrogate validation against held-out high-fidelity results

Working Together

Engagement Models

Fixed-Scope Study

A defined piece of work with clear deliverables and a fixed price — a CFD campaign, a model development study, or a reduced-order analysis of a specific configuration. Best when you know what you need and want a clear outcome.

Research Collaboration

A longer-term partnership with academic groups, defence labs, or start-ups that need specialist CFD and modelling input over several months. Best for open-ended R&D where the questions evolve as the work progresses.
